ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 or "new coronavirus" or simply "coronavirus" is a virus that fell on

the humanity in March 2020 from the city of Yohan in China. The symptoms of Covid-
19 patients are mainly fever and cough. Some drugs are available to treat it, but vaccines

have recently entered the market. In addition, all governments have enacted special

measures to protect the citizens. However, these measures seem to violate the protection
of citizens' personal data and thus the question arises as to whether they are in line with

ethics. However, the need to protect public health goes beyond the unethical nature of

such measures, provided, of course, that only data relating to protection against Covid-
19 will be processed. All the competent Health Services in each country give

instructions for the better protection of the health personnel, the patients, but also of the
citizens in general. Such Services in Greece are, among others, the National

Organization of Public Health (N.O.P.H.) and the Panhellenic Medical Association
(P.M.A.), as well as the local medical associations, such as the Medical Association of

Thessaloniki (M.A.Th). But the issue was also addressed by United Europe, which has

created special applications for mobile phones, which detect users' contacts and can
warn them if they approached someone positive on Covid-19, so that they can then act.
