Το διαστημικό σκάφος Soyuz MS-01 εκτοξεύεται από το κοσμοδρόμιο του Μπαϊκονούρ, στο Καζαχστάν, με πλήρωμα τα μέλη της αποστολής Expedition 48-49: την Kate Rubins της NASA, και τους Anatoly Ivanishin της Roscosmos και Takuya Onishi της Ιαπωνικής Υπηρεσίας Αεροδιαστημικής Εξερεύνησης (JAXA). Οι Rubins, Ivanishin και Onishi θα επιστρέψουν στη Γη τον Οκτώβριο.
